The Founders’ Run by Cartrack makes history once again on the portuguese roads

The sixth edition of The Founders’ Run by Cartrack made history once again on the portuguese roads, bringing together over fifty pre-war cars and motorcycles for a three-day journey that celebrated the golden age of motoring.

The raid began in Figueira da Foz, where the centenarian vehicles took part in the traditional Prova de Perícia by Liqui Moly (Skill Trial). Over the following days, the convoy headed south along sunny Atlantic roads bathed in Mediterranean-inspired sunshine, passing through towns such as Torres Vedras, Mafra, and Estoril, before the grand finish in Lisbon.

Covering over 300 kilometres, these centenarian cars and motorcycles brought portuguese roads back to life, offering a genuine return to the golden age of motoring whilst taking in some of the most iconic landscapes of the Centre region and the Atlantic coast.

Among the more than 50 vehicles on the move, several genuine gems of automotive heritage stood out, including the 1912 Sunbeam 12/16 Copa de L’Auto, the 1913 Hispano-Suiza Alfonso XIII, the 1916 Diatto 20HP, the 1922 Bugatti Brescia, and the 1933 Aston Martin Le Mans.

The defining feature of this edition was the strong international element, with around a third of the participants travelling from abroad (Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Greece) to join the convoy and complete the three-day, 300-plus-kilometre route.

Some international participants took the opportunity to arrive early and visit the Museu do Caramulo, the “Magical Formula” exhibition dedicated to Formula 1, the Caramulo Experience Centre, and the Second World War Collection, prior to setting off for Figueira da Foz.

This edition of The Founders’ Run by Cartrack was supported by Cartrack, Liqui Moly, BPI | La Caixa Foundation, ACH. BRITO, EMEL, and the Municipal Councils of Figueira da Foz, Torres Vedras, Mafra, Cascais, and Lisbon.
